Hanging Out With Dad

Emerson loves to hang out with her Daddy whenever she can. Her favorite things to do with Dad are surfing the internet (she especially likes to look at her blog or her cousin Noah's) and she loves rubbing her big belly on her Dad's head!

Physical Therapy

At Emerson's 6 month well-baby check-up, her pediatrician was still a little concerned about her flat head, so she suggested that we have an evaluation by a PT, OT, and an Orthotics specialist. The specialists determined that her head flatness wasn't severe enough to require a helmet, but they did diagnose her with Torticollis, which is a tightness in the neck muscles. This has caused her to turn and tilt her head one way, reach and roll more with one side of her body, etc. So to correct this, she started Physical Therapy at the beginning of July. She goes once a week and she's already made good progress! Her therapist does some stretching and massage with her to loosen her neck muscles, and shows me different stretches and activities we can do at home to help her. Here are some photos from today's visit!

On the Move

Emerson has been scooting all over the place on her back, rolling across the room, pivoting around on her tummy, but still not crawling yet. She is getting up on her hands and knees more so it shouldn't be long. I just thought these pictures were funny...she couldn't sit still long enough to get a picture!

Millennium Park

We went to Millennium Park yesterday with some friends and their little ones. We spent most of our time at the "Splash Pad" and Emerson enjoyed the sprinklers but the water was cold! After awhile, she and her buddies just lounged in the shade and relaxed. Here she is with Emily and Hayden. For those of you who don't know the story, I used to carpool with their moms, Katie and Kim, and we all wound up pregnant with girls at the same time! :-)

First Teeth!

2 teeth (bottom middle) finally both poked through over the weekend! You still can't see them very well but we can feel them! If you click on this picture, you may be able to see them better.

4th of July at the Cottage

We went to the Richardson's cottage in Spring Lake for the 4th & 5th. Emerson was so excited to see Grandpa Mike & Grandma Lisa. She loved snuggling and playing with them all weekend! Aunt Nina and Rich came on Saturday and she enjoyed bouncing on both of them (that's currently her favorite hobby) and meeting their puppy! The water was pretty cold, but she gave the lake a try both Friday and Saturday. She was pretty mellow in the waves, but enjoyed it more when we just filled the little boat full of water for her to splash in. She had lots of entertainment from her friends Olivia and Alexa both days. We gave her a frozen bagel to chew on (I read somewhere that it's a good teether) and she loved it! Here are some pictures from the weekend...

6 Month Portraits

We had Emerson's professional pictures taken for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Her Aunt Pam and cousins Mackenzie and Madison kept her entertained during and after the photo shoot. They were a huge help! The pictures turned out really cute (but of course, we may be a little biased!) She looks very serious in most of them, but that pretty much sums up her personality! Enjoy!
