Tonsillectomy

At Emerson's last visit with her ENT, he noticed that her tonsils were so large they were almost touching each other.  This has been causing her snoring and sleep apnea, so he suggested removing them.  Her surgery was scheduled for this past Monday.  Grandma Ross came to help out and brought Emmie some new pajamas and a special new quilt that had been prayed over by their church.
Reading with Grandma the night before her surgery
This was right after her surgery when she was waking up in the recovery room.  Grandma and Mom got to be there with her and watch movies until it was time to head home.
The afternoon of her surgery...she wanted to have a tea party with Grandma and played most of the afternoon!
The day after surgery.  She still felt good, but was just a little bit subdued from her usual bubbly self.  We spent lots of time making play-doh cakes.
So proud of all of her creations!

She was such a trooper and we are so proud of her!  I pray the rest of her recovery goes smoothly and this helps her snoring/sleeping issues and helps keep her healthier overall!

New Bike!

Spring Soccer

Emerson is playing soccer this spring!  She is on a team of 17 kids (all under the age of 4)...it's a little crazy and chaotic, but it's a good experience overall!  Here are some pictures from the season so far:
Week 1: all smiles and ready to play!

Snack was definitely the highlight for everyone!

Week 2: Emily and Emerson are waiting patiently to get their pictures taken

During the team picture, Emerson decided it was best to make funny faces.  We tried getting her to laugh/smile by calling her "Spaghetti Face" (Aunt Lyndsey's nickname for her) and then the whole team was smiling and chanting "Spaghetti Face"!

Week 3: She was pretty clingy at the beginning, but finally warmed up by the end of the practice

Yes, that is my hand in the picture...she wouldn't let go of me so I ended up being dragged around the field as she played!  But at least she participated!!

Easter

We spent a lovely Easter weekend at my parents' house in Marlette.  Emerson had such a fun weekend playing with her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents (and being spoiled by all of them).  We had a delicious Easter dinner on Saturday with the Ross side of the family and then on Sunday we went to church and celebrated Grandma Ross's birthday.  Emerson sat through church quietly for the first time ever!  She doesn't get much practice with this since she goes to her class at our church instead of sitting in on the service with us.  She's growing up!
Coloring Easter eggs is serious business at the Mayra house
She's come up with some interesting poses for pictures lately!

Springtime!

Here are some recent pictures of our little lady.  We have only made it to the park once so far this spring because we've had so much rain.  It was fun for us to watch her re-discover everything on the playground that she hasn't seen since the fall.

Spring Break: Part 2

On Wednesday, Emerson and I met up with our friends at the Grand Rapids Ballet for a special spring break kids performance, followed by lunch at McDonald's with our buddies.  Then we headed to the thumb to visit Grandma and Grandpa Ross, who had just returned from Florida.  We had a great time at their house and got to catch up with lots of friends and family while we were there!

Grandma and Grandpa's basement is perfect for tractor driving, even at 7 AM!
She was a little clingy...this pic pretty much sums up spring break!  She was mama's girl!
She did have some fun with Grandma and Grandpa too.  I didn't get many pictures but these two are my favorites!

Spring Break: Part 1

Our spring break started a few days early this year because Emerson was sick.  She was feeling better by Saturday and we spent lots of time snuggling, watching movies, playing Barbies, My Little Ponies, dressing up and having tea.  I took Jayce and Emerson to the movies on Monday to see MegaMind (it was her first theater experience and I wasn't sure how well our active little girl would sit.  I'm glad it was free because wasn't very into it, but she liked the snacks!)
This ensemble was put together by Emerson.  After getting ready, she pronounced herself "ready for the wedding"!  Because this is what you wear to a wedding, right?
After being cooped up all weekend, she and Nick went outside to practice fishing and look for butterflies and bugs.
Such a patient Dad!
Not the best picture of Nick, but I love Emerson's expression here :-)
