2 Year Stats

(She wore her "cupcake jamas" for her birthday and I thought she looked so sweet in this picture!)
Emerson had her 2 year well-baby visit on Monday. She is healthy and growing, though she's gotten wise to what goes on at the doctor's office and cried for the first few minutes of our visit :-( She cooperated after awhile and showed off her wonderful language skills for her pediatrician.

Here are her 2 year stats:
Weight: 32 lbs. (95%)
Height: 35.5" (89%)
Head: still off the charts of course but she looks much more proportional to us!
She's a healthy, growing girl!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Emerson Grace!

Our little girl is 2 years old! We can't believe how quickly the time has gone by. Emerson has been such a blessing to us in the past 2 years. She has such a fun personality, talks non-stop, and makes us laugh every day. She is a sweet, affectionate little sweetie. We celebrated her birthday on Friday evening with some homemade mac & cheese (her favorite dinner) and then celebrated again tonight with my sister and her family. We didn't have a big party since her birthday falls at a very busy time of the year and most of our family lives far away. Emerson got many wonderful gifts and has been having fun playing with all of her new things. She has her 2 year check-up tomorrow, so stay tuned for her latest stats.

Emmie got a new chair,
new doll & backpack, table & chairs,
chalkboard,
puzzle,
puppets, and lots of other goodies!

First bite of her Coldstone Oreo Fudge Cupcake...

What a mess!

"I'm TWO!"

Ah, that was good!

This is a little hard to hear, but Emerson is singing "Happy Birthday" to herself after we sang to her!

Annual Ross Applesauce Weekend

My family tries to get together every fall to make homemade applesauce. This year we gathered at my parents' house over Halloween weekend. My sister Pam was on crutches and I had strep throat, so we weren't a ton of help. Luckily, our husbands (and dad) stepped in and showed off their talents :-) We would've been enlisting their help all along had we known what a team they made! Emerson wasn't much help but she had a ball running around with her cousins, playing in Granmda & Grandpa Ross's basement, and sampling some applesauce, of course! We all had lots of fun, many laughs, and we now have enough applesauce to last until next fall!

Fall Leaves

We were done raking leaves weeks ago, but I forgot about these pictures. Emerson wanted to "help" us rake one evening. She had lots of fun and kept sitting in the piles, grabbing handfuls, and dropping them on her head. She had a blast--and we didn't even mind that it took us twice as long to finish :-)

Emerson's 2nd Halloween

Here I go, trying to catch up AGAIN! :-) We celebrated Halloween in Marlette at my parents' house this year. We were there for our annual family "applesauce weekend" (pictures to come) and took Emerson's pumpkin costume with us. Marlette has been doing a "trunk or treat" kind of thing for the past couple of years. They shut down Main St. for local businesses, churches, etc. to set up tables or cars and pass out candy while everyone walks around downtown. It was pretty cold, a little rainy, and I had strep throat so I didn't get many pictures. We ran into many friends while we were out and about and my dear friend, Kelly, got this picture for us. Emerson was a little overwhelmed by all the people and not very interested in getting candy, so it was a quick stroll through town and then we headed to Beagio's for pizza with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins...she had lots of fun with everyone that weekend!

Random Update

It's been awhile since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd catch you all up to speed on what Emerson has been up to. She doesn't have another well-baby visit until December so I won't have any physical stats until then. I can tell you she is growing out of everything we own very quickly! But here are her latest...
Phrases:
  • "He Cow!" (holy cow)
  • "Do you see it?"
  • "Diffet music please" (she thinks I'm her personal dj when we're in the car)
  • "Right there!"
  • "Emmie do it"
  • "Hey guys!"
  • "Watch this"
  • "Wookamee!" (look at me)

Likes:

  • Playing outside (she is the most social person in our neighborhood!)
  • Reading books alone or with anyone who will read with her when she plops down on their lap
  • Watching football with Daddy (she narrates when the players are running, says "oh no" when someone gets tackled, and points out the colors on their"kelmets")
  • Helping us with the laundry, cooking, cleaning, and helping Dad take care of the aquariums
  • Watching "Sid the Science Kid" and "SuperWhy" on PBS
  • Playing with other kids--she's even starting to tell us tidbits of things that happened in her day, who she played with, etc.

Dislikes:

  • Fresh fruit (but she still LOVES dried fruit)
  • Fingerpainting
  • Being so far away from most of her family :-(
  • Being told "no"
  • Utensils (she unfortunately thinks her hands can do a more efficient job)
  • Getting her hair done. She still has NEVER had a haircut but her bangs are getting long and need to be pulled back but it only works if we can distract her while we do it!

She is gaining independence and talks about being a "big girl" all the time. We just got her a potty seat (she has been reading on it with her diaper on to get used to it). She has a stool to stand on to brush her teeth. She is just growing up so quickly and we can't get over how much our little girl is changing everyday. We adore her social, spunky personality and her sweet side (we do get requests for a kiss or a snuggle every now and then and we cherish those times!)

Weekend with the Mogridges!

Nick and I went to a friend's wedding this past weekend so Emerson went to stay with Aunt Pam, Uncle Steve, Mackenzie, and Madison! They had lots of fun together and took some great pictures for us! They walked around downtown Rockford and had lunch at a new Mexican restaurant there. Then they spent some time at the apple orchard/pumpkin patch and picked out a nice little pumpkin to bring home! She had a wonderful time with them (and their dog of course) and we are so grateful to have them so close by!
