Mother's Day

Here's a video from Mother's Day...Emerson was very talkative and smiley! We went to church, went out to lunch with Grandma MJ, and then Dad and Emmie gave me some time to relax :-)

Emerson's Dedication

We had Emerson dedicated at our church on Sunday. The dedication was at 2:00, so we had our friends and family over for a little celebration beforehand. It was a beautiful day and it was so wonderful to be surrounded by so many people who love Emmie. We are so thankful for all of you who traveled so far to help us celebrate Emerson's special day and we missed those of you who couldn't be there. She is still fighting the virus she had last week (we went back to the doctor today), so she looks a little rough in some of these pictures. She was a trooper though!

It was a crowded house!

Emmie enjoyed being passed around to her cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles!

Dad thought both schools needed to be represented so he redesigned her outfit (this was obviously before the girls helped me dress her for the service)

We tried to get a good picture of her and Noah together, but she wasn't very happy. Noah looks as cute as ever though!

Noah's blog has some great pictures from the weekend

Emmie almost put her feet in the cake :-)

Aunt Lyn was very excited to finally meet Emerson!

During the dedication service, Emerson was captivated by Pastor Jamie's voice. She really looked like she was listening and taking it all in the whole time!

Nick and I wrote a family covenant and read it at the dedication. We got a little choked up but we made through...we are just so blessed by this little girl!

First Trip to the Cottage

Saturday was Emerson's first trip to the Richardson's cottage in Spring Lake. All of the Mayras were staying there for the weekend but we just went for the evening. We had spent some time earlier in the day with my family, so it was a busy one! Emmie had lots of fun getting reaquainted with everyone, but she was SO worn out by the end of the night. It was so great to see everyone and we can't wait to get back out there sometime when we can get her in the lake!

Checking out the exersaucer (and drooling on it of course)

Kate got big smiles and giggles from Emmie (this was after a little nap, so she was much happier!)

Emmie's Squeals

Here are some of Emerson's latest squealy noises and a nice display of her grabbing techniques!

Emmie's 1st Illness

Emerson had her first illness this past week. She was fussier than normal on Friday and Saturday and wasn't sleeping/napping well. Her eyes were watery and she was sneezing and coughing (we thought maybe she had allergies--we had the windows open for the first time). She had a slight fever and was really congested during the night on Saturday, so we called her pediatrician's after-hours number and they told us to go to the GRAPES clinic at the children's hospital on Sunday (it's kind of like an Emergency Room just for pediatric patients and they have night and weekend hours) The doctor there informed us that she had a virus, as well as pinkeye and an ear infection! So she got her first bottle of yummy pink amoxicillin and Mom got to stay home with her on Monday. She's doing much better now and we just can't get over how content she was for being that sick. She's such a good girl! Here are some pics from this week:

Just as I snapped this one, she started spitting up...lovely!

She's gotten really good at grabbing toys, hair, jewelry, glasses :-)

I just love her big, beautiful eyes and long eyelashes.

Even her feet are pudgy!

Emerson has been very talkative lately! Here's a video of her chatting with Daddy last night:

4 1/2 Months

(I'm not sure why these pictures are smaller and I can't get them to line up right...sorry!)
Emerson had her 4 month check-up on Tuesday. She's doing great and growing like a weed! The doctor says her umbillical hernia is looking better and should close up on its own without surgery. She also said that her neck muscles have strengthened and her range of motion is good, so her flat head should also be improving without any intervention. Emmie has been eating like crazy and still sleeps well at night. She also usually takes 3 naps throughout the day. Here are her 4 1/2 month stats:

Weight: 16.2 lbs (95th%!!!!)
Height: 24 3/4 in. (75th%)
Head Circ: 17 (95th%)

Here's our smiley girl!

Getting some exercise...

...and getting mad. Holding up that head is hard work!

Still one of her favorite places to nap!
